I've been thinking of getting a tattoo lately. One similar to the picture above. It will be smaller and have my own unique changes. I would like a rose for each one of my grandparents who are no longer living, but alive in my heart and in memories. All of the roses representing my grandparents will be small and closed to represent the memories they hold in my heart. And then a rose for my husband and my son. Both of those roses will be open and in bloom, to represent the fullness and undying love I have for them both. Also, I'm contemplating covering an old tattoo that have. It's representation is of something that is no longer a "priority" in my life, like it was when I got the tattoo. A lot has changed in my life since then and I really don't want that constant reminder of the life I was leading then. However, I'm not sure what I would get to cover it....
A genuine tattoo.... tells a story. I like stories and tattoos, no matter how well done, and if they don't tell a story that involves you emotionally, then they're just there for decoration, then they're not a valid tattoo. There has to be some emotional appeal or they're not, to my way of thinking, a real tattoo. It tells people what you are and what you believe in, so there's no mistakes. ~Leo, tattooist, 1993, quoted in Margo DeMello, Bodies of Inscription, 2000

ohh.. I like that a lot.. it is funny you blogged about this. It is stange because I haven't checked anyone's blogs in over a month and I checked yours. My husband and I were just talking about this. Of course I need to lose 20lbs and have a stomach like the chick above but I was thinking of a quote in that exact spot instead of a picture.. although I love that one. A friend of mine has a qoute in the same spot as the picture. It says, "I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine". It has really pretty writing and she got after she got married.. Anyways, that tattoo above is sweet.. my husband just got his 2nd tattoo all down his arm and probably this fall is going to get another one on his other arm from his elbow to his wrist.. they are pretty hot.. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOOCH! Just ask Wes...the ribs are the most painful spot! I love the whole meaning of what you are thinking though...let us know when you decide!
